Always Amethyst | Nail Art Tutorial
Stone and gem-inspired nail art is one of those trends that never really goes away. The colors and finishes may change, but the technique continues to evolve season after season.
The good news is that once you understand the basics of layering, you can adapt the technique to create everything from rose quartz and amethyst to jade, opal, marble, and beyond.
Stone-inspired nail art is also a great entry point into the world of nail art for both clients and nail professionals. Like most of the designs I create, the key is thinking through your layers before you begin.
For this look, we're using a milky semi-sheer lavender base with a custom purple jelly blend layered throughout. Mica flakes add depth and dimension, while a highly pigmented white art gel creates the stylized veining. Everything is softened and unified with a final layer of sheered-out white lavender.
Once you understand the layering technique, you can adapt it to create countless stone and gemstone-inspired designs.
A Note on the Veins
When creating the white veining, wipe your brush frequently on your palette to prevent the gel from dragging too heavily through the design.
Be sure to flash cure or fully cure between completed veins, especially when they touch or overlap.
