KOKOIST Bottle’N Go Flash Glitter & Excel Classics Collection | Side-by-Side Swatches & Comparisons

Swatches of the KOKOIST Bottle'N Go Excel Classics collection featuring sixteen crème gel colors arranged on clear swatch tips, including neutral nudes, soft pinks, mauves, white, berry and bright pink shades.

Whenever there’s a new Bottle’N Go launch, I’m excited to swatch it. As a KOKOIST USA educator, I had early access to the newest additions before their July 27th release. Between traveling to Chicago for The Mani Mixer and getting caught up afterward, I’m a couple days late to sharing the collection.

This launch adds twenty-two new shades to the Bottle’N Go lineup: six Flash Glitter shades and sixteen Excel Classics.

The Excel Classics collection, in particular, piqued my interest in a major way. These are existing Excel Color shades recreated in the Bottle’N Go formula, making them a great choice for anyone who prefers working from a bottle or is looking to avoid HEMA- and TPO-containing formulas. I already had most of the original Excel Color pots, so a side-by-side comparison felt inevitable.

Flash Glitter Collection

The Flash Glitter collection includes two chunky mixed glitter gels suspended in a clear base (these are glitter gels, but not technically flash-effect glitters) and four metallic flash glitters that sparkle beautifully under both regular lighting and direct flash.

Excel Classics

If you’ve been using KOKOIST for a while, you’ll probably recognize every shade in this collection. Rather than introducing brand-new colors, the Excel Classics bring some of the brand’s most popular Excel Color gels into the Bottle’N Go system.

I was curious how closely the Bottle’N Go versions would match their potted counterparts, so I swatched all sixteen shades side by side using two coats over a clear swatch stick.

Let’s take a gander, shall we?

A Few Observations

Some shades were almost identical, while others leaned slightly warmer or cooler than their potted counterparts. A handful were different enough that I noticed immediately when swatching them side by side. Peach Tea Candy and Beige Pebble had the most noticeable variation.

I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. I actually prefer the Bottle’N Go version of Peach Tea Candy because it reminds me more of the Nail Thoughts Peach Base, which has been a longtime favorite of mine.

I’m a big color nerd, so I had a blast putting this comparison together, and I hope having the side-by-side swatches helps you decide which version is the better fit for your collection.

I found the original Excel Color pots retained a little more translucency and depth, while the Bottle’N Go versions generally built opacity more quickly. Neither is better than the other; they’re just different. Depending on the shade, you may find yourself preferring one version over the other.
