Double Rhythm Gemstone Glow Collection Review + Swatches
Affordable magnet gels with a luxe finish? Where do I sign?
The Double Rhythm Gemstone Glow collection combines juicy jewel tones, incredibly responsive magnetic particles, and a glassy finish in a HEMA- and TPO-free formula that could give some of my favorite magnet gels a run for their money.
I am, most certainly, on the skeptical side when it comes to budget nail products.
To be clear, not all affordable formulas are created equal. Owning Vacation Nail Shop has given me a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing side of the cosmetic industry. While we have no intention of creating gel products ourselves, we regularly attend cosmetic and beauty expos and spend a lot of time talking with manufacturers.
Double Rhythm is actually a private label gel manufacturer, meaning they develop and manufacture formulas that other brands can purchase and sell under their own label. While some companies, like Kokoist, own and operate their own manufacturing facilities, many smaller brands rely on private label manufacturing to create their product lines.
Truth be told, this isn't my first Double Rhythm collection. I originally purchased a few colors out of curiosity and was genuinely impressed by the formula. Once I realized how much I liked them, I went on a bit of a shopping spree.
My magnet gel collection is fairly extensive, but I realized I was missing a good set of fine-particle jewel tones. Gemstone Glow filled that gap perfectly.
Most magnet gels benefit from a demagnetized first layer to create depth before magnetizing a second coat. With Gemstone Glow, I found that the combination of the jelly base and exceptionally cooperative magnetic particles created plenty of depth with a single magnetized coat.
The full six-color collection also includes a pre-made swatch display and a cute little box featuring a very AI-generated kitty cat with a pair of demi-whispies.
Aesthetically, the swatch display isn't really my studio vibe, but it's a thoughtful addition. Considering the individual colors retail for around $8.99 each, the full collection is also the better value at around $35.
One of the things that initially drew me to Double Rhythm was the packaging. It feels surprisingly elevated for the price point and reminds me a bit of what I'd expect from a Korean gel brand.
My only real criticism is the bottle design. While the packaging is pretty, the bottles are quite tall and the decorative gold cap sleeve slides on and off very easily. It's not a dealbreaker by any means, but it can be a little annoying when you're reaching for colors during a service.
MC1325 is a rich bright purple.
MC1326 is a vibey emerald green
MC1327 is a bright ruby red.
MC1312 is a bold sapphire.
MC1328 is a vibrant magenta (my personal fave).
MC1329 is a caramel amber.
Worth It?
Totally.
This isn't my first Double Rhythm collection and it probably won't be my last.
I bought Gemstone Glow because I realized my magnet gel collection was missing some good fine-particle jewel tones, and this collection delivered exactly what I was hoping for. The magnetic particles are incredibly responsive, the colors are saturated, and the formula creates a beautiful velvet effect without requiring much effort.
I also appreciate that the collection feels thoughtfully formulated. Rather than relying on a heavily pigmented jelly base to carry the design, the magnetic effect feels integrated into the color itself, creating a finish that looks surprisingly luxe for the price point.
If you're looking for jewel-toned magnet gels and don't feel like spending $20+ per bottle, I think this collection is absolutely worth a look.
I purchased my Gemstone Glow collection on Amazon and you can find it here:
